DASH (Debreifing Assesment for
Simulation in Healthcare)
Next DASH training webinar: December 10, 2009
In response to expressed interest, the Center for Medical Simulation is pleased to again offer an opportunity for an online Debriefing Assessment for Simulation in Healthcare (DASH) training session. The purpose of this session is to hone the assessment skills of participants interested in debriefing in healthcare. To achieve that, we welcome all interested to join the Center for Medical Simulation faculty in a web-based session to train participants how to use the DASH tool to assess debriefings in healthcare.
When? 4 ½-hour session on Thursday, December 10, 2009, from 1:00 EST to 5:30 EST.
The session is limited to 96 phone-in participants. The first 96 people to sign up will be given a “seat.” Please fill out the online registration form to register for the session.
Payment: The tuition is $189 per connection. You may share a phone connection with others for a charge of $45 per additional person. Each person must have their own computer with internet access in order to participate in the practice ratings. Please arrange to pay your tuition within 30 days of receiving acknowledgment of your registration. Rhonda Young will mail an invoice if you forward to her the complete address and contact person to whom the invoice should be sent. The Center for Medical Simulation accepts payments by credit card, money order or check. To pay by credit card, please contact Rhonda Young. Payment by money order or check should be made out to “Center for Medical Simulation” and sent to Rhonda Young, Center for Medical Simulation, 65 Landsdowne St., Suite 142, Cambridge, MA 02139.
How do I prepare? We want to strongly emphasize that the benefits of attending a DASH training session are minimal if you are not familiar with the DASH. For this reason, please find the DASH at www.harvardmedsim.org/cms/dash.html. Being as familiar as possible prior to the training means you will gain greater benefit from the training and you’ll be a more accurate and reliable rater. If you don’t have the time to become familiar with the DASH beforehand, we recommend that you take the training another time.
During the training we will view three videos. Since you will be taking notes on the debriefer’s performance and scoring independently, you will need an adequate supply of hard copy score sheets, which can be found on the DASH web page for the exercise.
After I register, how do I prepare? Most important is to be familiar with the DASH. As the time for the web-based training approaches, we will email you instructions about how to call in and set up your computer. You won’t need any additional software on your computer, but you will need high-speed internet access. Wired internet access is much preferred; wireless internet access is likely not to work well.
